“It’s Not Easy Being a Lazy Bug” is a brainchild of Pragya Tomar, Michela Fiori, and Ramona MacLean. In this little book, they teach children the value of being industrious, responsible, and independent. To make their story captivating, the authors choose an insect for the central character.
Do You Have a Lazy Bug at Home?
It’s Not Easy Being a Lazy Bug is a story of a very lazy insect named Lazy Bug. The adorable Lazy Bug was born surrounded with so much love. He’s so pampered that he does not have to make any effort to get what he wanted and needed. Everything is served to him by the other bugs around him. They fed him, bathed him, and brushed his teeth. He didn’t even make his bed, put away his toys, or tie his own shoes.Lazy Bug was so accustomed to such a treatment that he became idle. As he grows up he expects others to still serve him. He eventually loves doing nothing at all. For his meals, he just calls his mom and dad to feed him. The idle insect neither wants to take a shower nor brush his teeth by himself. He does not even care to get dressed on his own. That’s why he stinks. Because of these, other bugs taunt him and don’t want to get near him. His mom and dad are also fed up with his attitude.
And so, one day, mom and dad decide to give him a lesson.
What, do you think, his parents did to discipline him? Find it out for yourself. Follow the events in Lazy Bug’s life. You might also discover a lazy bug in your house.
It’s Not Easy Being A Lazy Bug: The Book
It’s Not Easy Being a Lazy Bug is a short story of a spoiled insect, the bug. It’s actually an analogy between animal and human behaviors. Just as bugs depend on another’s blood for sustenance, so do humans can be idle and too dependent on others if given the chance.Presented hilariously, the story is interesting and easy to grasp for young minds. It’s indeed a clever idea to incorporate fun into the value-formation training. The book specifically teaches young kids that it’s not nice to be idle. I do appreciate the authors for coming up with this concept of teaching. Their use of an insect as the central character is a diversion from the typical human hero or villain. Thus, making the story a fun read for kids.
Moreover, the book is beautifully illustrated. The yellow color of the Lazy Bug stands out among the supporting characters. And, the mostly white background ensures that the child’s focus is on the characters.
Overall, I give It’s Not Easy Being a Lazy Bug a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to parents with children 2 – 8 years old. This helps parents in teaching their children to be industrious, responsible, and independent individuals.
