My Trip to Adele - Book Review

My Trip to Adele
by R. I. Alyaseer and A.I. Alyaseer

Three Arab personalities struggle to fight for what they believe is right, even if it means defying traditions. Despite the challenges they face, they find comfort in idolizing Adele. They believe that a trip to see Adele would somehow alleviate the burdens they carry.

"My Trip to Adele," written by siblings R. I. Alyaseer and A.I. Alyaseer, is a collection of stories featuring different personalities. The main characters are of Arab descent living in various regions. In addition to their culture, they share a common bond - they are all huge fans of the singer, Adele. They find solace in their idol as they navigate their life struggles.

Their Life Journey

The first story is about a man searching for a girl he met eight years ago. Elias had a fling with Malika but realized he had feelings for her. He is trying to come to terms with his emotions and is determined to find her for closure.

In Las Vegas, a couple, Yaser and Mariam, who are both surgeons, are struggling to save their marriage despite being successful in their careers. Yaser is torn between leaving or working on his marriage and seeks counseling to revive their happiest memories.

Meanwhile, a single mother, Nadia, is struggling to cope with her ex-husband's betrayal. She wants to create a positive environment for her son and stay strong.

In an attempt to find solace, the three characters decide to take a trip to Adele's concert in Rome.

The Book and the Authors

The book, "My Trip to Adele," has a simple plot, and while the authors show potential, there are inconsistencies. Nadia's character stands out, embodying strength and resilience.

The book's message about women's voices in a patriarchal society is noteworthy. However, there are some inconsistencies in the writing, with insufficient scene descriptions. Additionally, the excessive references to Adele and her song lyrics may alienate readers who are not fans.

The authors' storytelling format, jumping back and forth between the different stories, also may make it difficult for readers to follow.

Furthermore, the book contains numerous typographical and grammatical errors, and I recommend another round of editing and proofreading before reproduction.

Given these issues, I rate "My Trip to Adele" 2 out of 5 stars.
