Mirrors of Life: What is Your Life in the Mirror? - Book Review
Mirrors of Life: What is Your Life in the Mirror?
by Neal Owen
Mirrors of Life opens with the story of Yvonne, a teenage mother. Despite the challenges of raising her son at such an early age and living on generational welfare, she perseveres through life with the support of her grandmother. Her strong faith in God sustains her.
Yvonne’s challenge does not end with raising only one child. Years after she had her first son, she fell in love again with other men. She eventually bore 3 more kids. Her second son, Derrick, is a wise and intelligent boy. At the age of 10, he started investing in stocks. He watches his money grow until he becomes a millionaire, and able to pull his family out of poverty. He then ventures into several projects with a larger plan of building a company that would reduce retail and gas prices for the black people. His businesses, however, pit him against the powerful white men.
Neal Owens clearly makes an impact with his debut novel. Mirrors of Life is riveting and spiritually enriching. It is infused with unconditional love, the importance of family, faith in God, drama, racial themes, and determination. Owens’ writing is straightforward and filled with Scripture verses.
I give Mirrors of Life a rating of 5 out of 5 stars, and I recommend it to readers of all ages.
